These
were a very limited production model made in the mid-late 50's
by the Raise Up Company of Rotterdam, Holland. The models were
given to airline
executives and govt. officials who may have been interested in
buying the Lockheed Turboprop Electra. The Executive Desk
Sets, of which this is from one,
were even more limited. The airplane model itself is all metal
and weighs about a pound. It's a solid well built metal model,
as were all the models built by
"Raise Up". You can feel the quality of the model as
you hold it in your hand. The paint is worn & it looks
like paint was splashed on it. The propellers spin
free. The base that holds the stand for the airplane model was
designed to hold note paper. I'm not positive, but it's pretty
likely paper to fit the base is
available at your local office supply store. This is an
original and authentic model of the Lockheed Electra Turbo
Propjet airplane made to the company's
specifications. I am not a collector of aviation or models
(I'm a vintage tin toy & Morgan Silver Dollar guy), so I
felt it was important for this classic model
and
nugget of American aviation history be made available to a
collector who would appreciate the historic significance &
rarity of this piece. Model is in fair
condition
and would make a great restoration project. For anyone who
collects model airplanes or aviation memriobilia, this Desk
Set will be a prize in their
collection.
