An extremely
rare opportunity to acquire what is probably one of the last
of these models to be offered for sale and not being in a
museum collection. Made around 1959, W. Osgaard & Co. of
Charlottenlund, Denmark, made 20 or so of these models. Due to
the limited production number, most of the interior parts
including the seats (except the passengers which were cast in
plastic like in the other 1:25th scale models from this
company) were hand made in wood and other materials and not
cast in plastic like in other cutaways.
In 1966 or
1967, a handful or so of the original 1959 models were
recalled by SAS to be repainted in the new livery by A/S Fermo
Model Factory, the successor to Osgaard. Due to the very
limited number of repainting jobs of this type of model,
almost no decals were used. These models were skillfully hand
painted at the factory by the master painter/decorator. Hence,
this finish looks and lasts much better and longer than
decals. This is one of those models.
This specimen
still has the complete and original interior featuring many
interesting details. Passengers are reading books and
newspapers, there are a few children present, and there's even
a baby in a cot on the galley in front.
All interior,
wingtip and stabilizer lights are working, and the spinning 'jetstreams'
still work powered by the original 220 Volt AC motors. The 'jetstream
spinners' can be pushed back into the exhausts if they're not
being used.
The Perspex cover is also the original for
the model with hand painted SCANDINAVIAN lettering.
The model comes with its original adjustable chrome stand and
a reproduction power supply with separate switches for lights
and engines.
This specific model was given as a
retirement present to a loyal SAS pilot who flew for the
airline for more than 30 years.
